Couse Paintings in Periodicals

The World, a New York City newspaper, reproduced artwork in their Sunday editions, allowing paintings to circulate far beyond museums and galleries. The color gravure section of the December 5, 1926, issue features a painting by E. I. Couse that depicts Ben Lujan.

The American Magazine was a prominent 20th-century general interest periodical. Page 37 of the June 1931 issue features a painting by E. I. Couse that depicts Taos Pueblo member Ben Lujan and his son Eliseo, bringing their likeness into the pages of popular national media.
